Jeanne says:  As you can see, this outfit made me extremely happy! I love wearing bright colors, especially in gray Seattle winters. The tucked-in sweater idea is a new approach. It can create a bulky look so I think it only works with lighter weight sweaters. Isn’t that a fabulous bracelet from Anthro? I bought it several years ago. I’ve seen similar ones on Anthro since then at MUCH higher prices.

Kate’s outfit is great – I LOVE her in bright colors and I love that polka dot skirt. If it had been me, I would have added a colorful necklace or a bright scarf because the yellow shirt is like a blank canvas to me – I have to fill it in! Once again, she takes a basically preppy outfit and raises the cool factor with her dark tights and metallic flats. Go Kate!

Kate says: I love that Mom and I are both wearing basically the same sweater and cap toe shoes! Do we follow trends, or what? This sweater is funny – the color is called “Citron” and in person it looks much more lime green than yellow. Either way, it’s become of my favorites lightweight sweaters in my wardrobe, and I frequently wear it on the weekend with boyfriend jeans. This polka dot continues to be a great standby, and has carried me through both summer and winter. Also, check out the link to a necklace similar to mine above – I love it! I might buy it ;)

As usual, Mom has much more confidence for mixing bright colors and patterns than I do. I would have been nervous to wear her combo, but it looks great. That heart blouse is a J.Crew item I was lusting after but refused to pay for. It is such a great layering piece with a cute cheeky graphic print. Mom’s tucked in sweater is kind of a variation on what I’ve been doing lately, which is tucking in the front of my sweaters and shirts – and my way might help with her fear of looking bulky.
