Jeanne says: The highlight of this outfit is my homemade statement necklace. It set the color scheme for my look and I was really pleased with the result. I also love these long shorts, although not the wrinkles that are inevitable with linen apparel. They can be dressy or casual depending on how they are styled. I also love how I match the flowering bush behind me!
Kate looks great in short, flirty dresses like this. She is making full use of the versatile canvas that a black and white print dress creates, teaming her dress with both violet and turquoise. I cannot tell if she has on a necklace, but it really isn’t necessary with this chic ensemble.
Kate says: This outfit is a good example of me trying to do something new with a dress I’ve had forever. I’ve struggled with updating this dress since it has a big ‘ole ruffle down the front, but by belting it and adding a big gold bib necklace, I was able to breathe some new life into it (or at least feel a little more excited about wearing it!). I swear, these turquoise shoes are one of my best purchases ever — I can throw them on with any outfit and they look awesome.
I love Mom’s heart print shirt layered in the fall, but she hasn’t worn it much this summer. This outfit is a great treatment — black and white looks so fresh with neon shorts and bright accessories. For the summer, I probably would have skipped the buttoned-up look due to the heat, but in Seattle this trend is a little less seasonal.
