Jeanne says: These J.Crew pants have been a mainstay since I get them two years ago. They work with blue and green, of course, but also with every other color under the sun like this grass green color. Even my very bright statement necklace works. This is a perfect work outfit for me — a little dressy, but not really.
Kate’s outfit looks like one I wore in a blog post last winter. I love bright yellow with this plaid. She’s really letting her bright top “do the talking”. I would probably have worn a collared shirt with the sweater just to bring in another pattern or color but she looks great. She could also do one of her bright pumps with this; I love aqua, for example, with this plaid.
Kate says: This was my first outfit with my new plaid pants, and I usually play it safe the first time around. But I do really like this plaid and neon combination — the neon helps keep the plaid fresh (because we all know plaid threatens to look decided not fresh). Next time around I’m sure I’ll be a little more daring!
Mom’s outfit is very similar to mine, and I like it! Of course, she is ahead of trend and has been wearing plaid for at least a year already — she is a pro. I love her monochromatic layers on top and those suede platforms she gets so much use out of! One of the great things about plaid is it’s a pattern that usually incorporates lots of colors that you can play with.
