Jeanne says: I bought this jacket last year and grew to love its saturated colors and tuxedo-esque design in the back. Ultimately it seems more like a sweater than a jacket and, like many jackets, looked better closed (with a pin) than left open. I love it with my silk/wool polka dot pants and blue top. All this color makes me SO happy!
Kate’s outfit is just plain audacious. Her yellow lace dress — which we already saw in the summer — is re-purposed into a jumper with a fuchsia blouse. I would have been much more conservative here and maybe would have paired it with a black turtleneck, black tights, and maybe a belt. But Kate looks young and hip and age-appropriate. The lesson here is to be creative when you have a versatile dress like this and, like Kate, throw color caution to the winds!
Kate says: Here’s another outfit I was a little nervous walking out the door in — so bright! But I got tons of compliments that reminded me to follow my instincts. I love this purple and yellow together, and tried to keep the rest simple: black right, boots, and simple hoop earrings. Any summery dress can be turned into a jumper like this, and you can tone it down a bit with a chambray shirt if need be!
When Mom first bought this jacket, I thought maybe she had lost her mind. But she’s made so many cute outfits with it! I think she is much more comfortable with this earthy mix of brown and orange colors than I am, which is made obvious by her confidence pairing this jacket with a bright blue shirt and polka dot pants! She looks quirky but very professional. Oh, and I would love to steal her shoes! They’ll be next on my list…
