Jeanne says: I bought this sweater coat last year and felt guilty about it at the time. It was (and is) spectacular, but did I really need it? Now I live in Northern California and sweater coats are great solutions in cooler weather. In Seattle, it was always the sweater coat bundled under a raincoat. Anyway, I love it and it is very versatile as long as it is combined with black — maybe a little coral or red. I am a great fan of all sweater coats — they have drama and can really dress up a simple pair of pants or leggings.
Kate got her sweater from me a few years ago. Great sweater, but way too warm for the west coast. I’m glad to see that she has used it extensively (does my heart good!). Here she has combined it with leopard, red and denim and it works. Again, she has mastered the approach of tying the outfit together with two little red touches — very cute!
Kate says: I love this sweater Mom handed down to me. It’s super warm, and I can wear it open like this or wrapped and belted. Sweater coats are such a versatile winter item — I love that I can wear them to work with dressier clothes, or almost as a bathrobe at home over my sweats. I really liked this dressed-down version. The stripes worked well with my leopard print top.
I love how Mom lets her sweater coat be the star of the show. It really is gorgeous (love that pattern!) and the black backdrop lets it shine. I’d love to see it with a brighter blouse underneath, or a nice chunky necklace though! Mom skin looks radiant here, doesn’t it?
