One Piece, Two Ways: White Skirt

For this post in our “One Piece, Two Ways” series, we both styling Kate’s Mango full white skirt (similar) — which is actually a hand-me-down from Jeanne! We think this style is great to bring some white into your winter wardrobe.

On Jeanne: J.Crew jacket (similar), Nik and Zoe shirt (similar), Forever 21 necklace (similar), J.Crew shoes (similar), old belt (similar)

Jeanne says: It was easy for us to both wear this skirt even though we are 2500 miles apart. I bought this midi skirt last year on sale from Mango and passed it along to Kate when I found a J.Crew version I liked better — also on sale, of course. While I think there are a lot of different ways to style this versatile midi, I’m wearing a pretty formal “suit” look here. Kate’s uses the same skirt to create a young, flippy, insouciant look. She looks much more on trend than I do!

In any case, don’t forget the idea of a versatile white or ivory skirt. The color is universal, goes with everything, and is a fresh switcheroo from black, navy blue or gray!

On Kate: J.Crew Factory sweater (similar), necklace (similar), Loft Outlet tights (similar), Old Navy boots (similar)

Kate says: I had to have this skirt taken out when Mom passed it on to me, but it was totally worth the wait. Not only is this skirt a great shape and length, it’s a perfect white skirt for winter. My requirements? Two words: Fully. Lined.

I loved pairing this skirt with a bright sweater, patterned tights and maroon booties, but it would also look adorable with collared shirt or tucked in blouse. White white FTW!

I love both of your outfits today! I find it tricky to tuck a sweater into a skirt (too bulky), so I like seeing two ways to wear it untucked. And Jeanne’s pumps are fab!
